CHINAPLAS 2026: BASF Collaborates with Jiangjuyuan and Jinyong Heavy Industry to Showcase High-Performance Railway Container Flooring Solution
2026-04-16

  • Ultramid® Expand polyamide pre-expanded particles deliver lightweight properties, high strength and durability, significantly enhancing the stability of railway container flooring under harsh operating conditions.
  • BASF to present at CHINAPLAS 2026 International Rubber & Plastics Fair: Booth C41, Hall 7.2, Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

April 15, 2026 – At CHINAPLAS 2026 International Rubber & Plastics Fair, BASF will jointly launch an innovative railway container flooring solution with Shanghai Jiangjuyuan New Materials Co., Ltd. (Jiangjuyuan) and Jinyong Heavy Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd. (Jinyong Heavy Industry). The solution adopts BASF Ultramid® Expand polyamide pre-expanded particle material (EPA), featuring lightweight design, high strength and exceptional durability, providing reliable support for modern railway applications.

Liu Xin, General Manager of the Container Business Unit at Jinyong Heavy Industry, stated: "The development of EPA-based flooring represents a major breakthrough in new materials for railway equipment. It is expected to not only demonstrate remarkable advantages in railway logistics equipment applications, but also accelerate the industry's transformation toward lightweight and sustainable development."

As the railway logistics industry continues to expand and transportation intensity increases, material innovation has become key to improving operational efficiency and driving sustainable development. With its lightweight, high-strength and durable characteristics, EPA opens up new possibilities for performance enhancement in next-generation railway equipment.

Guo Jiangqiao, Chairman of Jiangjuyuan, commented: "In the joint evaluation by the three parties, the EPA-based composite structural flooring excels in multiple key indicators required for high-performance railway container flooring, while offering greater design flexibility and a smoother manufacturing process."

In this integrated solution, EPA and Elastoflex® polyurethane STM composite form a lightweight sandwich structure. As the core material, EPA works in synergy with the high-strength polyurethane systems on the upper and lower surfaces to enhance the flooring's load-bearing capacity, durability and structural stability under various complex operating conditions.

"This collaboration with Jiangjuyuan and Jinyong Heavy Industry demonstrates our ability to meet the high-strength requirements of railway applications, while expanding the application potential of our material solutions in other demanding transportation sectors," said Su Rongyuan, Vice President of BASF and Head of Engineering Plastics Business Management, Asia Pacific, Performance Materials.
