Algenesis Labs Releases Product Carbon Footprint Findings for Bio-Based Polyols and TPUs
2026-04-11
April 7, 2026 – Algenesis Labs, a pioneer in bio-based and biodegradable polyurethane materials, has unveiled findings from its latest Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) study. Results show that the company’s Soleic® product line reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 65% relative to petroleum-based alternatives.
Conducted in collaboration with TrueNorth Collective, an independent sustainability organization, the preliminary PCF study confirms that Soleic® polyols and thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) achieve consistent carbon emission reductions of 50% to 65% across key product grades.
Beyond emission reductions, Soleic® LV02 is manufactured with 100% bio-based carbon, validated by third-party ASTM testing, independent of mass-balance accounting methodologies.
Nick Sandland, Chief Commercial Officer of Algenesis Labs, commented: “Delivering up to 65% lower carbon emissions, these results demonstrate that Soleic® plant-based polyurethanes deliver clear performance advantages over petroleum-based materials. Brands can now lower their carbon footprint without compromising end-product performance.”

Employing a cradle-to-gate lifecycle methodology, the PCF analysis encompasses raw material sourcing, logistics and manufacturing processes. This delivers a transparent, robust foundation for sustainability reporting across key sectors including footwear, apparel, automotive components, electronics housings, specialty coatings and diverse industrial applications.
