Huntsman Celebrates Completion of Hungarian Expansion Project to Boost JEFFCAT® Amine Catalyst Production Capacity
2026-03-20

March 18, 2026 – Huntsman marked the official start of operations at the expanded high-performance products manufacturing site in Petfurdo, Hungary. The facility commenced production earlier this year. The successful investment has elevated Huntsman’s global manufacturing capacity, delivering greater production flexibility and innovative technologies to the polyurethane, coatings, metalworking, and electronics industries.

As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of amine catalysts, Huntsman brings over 50 years of expertise in polyurethane chemicals, with sustained global demand growth for its JEFFCAT® amine catalysts. These specialty amine products are widely used in everyday applications including automotive seating, mattresses, and energy-efficient building insulation materials. Huntsman’s latest product portfolio supports industry efforts to conserve energy, reduce emissions, and minimize odor in consumer goods.

Jan Buberl, President of Huntsman Performance Products, stated: “This additional capacity builds on our long-standing investments in high-performance products and strengthens our ability to support customers in fast-growing and evolving markets. The expansion enhances our production flexibility, advances the research and development of next-generation products, and underscores our ongoing commitment to sustainability, operational excellence, and long-term value creation. As market demand for cleaner, more efficient solutions continues to rise, this investment enables us to respond with greater speed, innovation, and reliable performance.”

The project received investment incentives from the Government of Hungary, reflecting the local community’s trust in Huntsman and the shared commitment of both parties to future growth. Local government officials attended the celebration, witnessing the investment’s significance for the long-term development of the region.

Jan Buberl added: “We greatly appreciate the support of the Hungarian government and value the strong partnerships that have enabled the successful completion of this project. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Hungarian government to drive economic development and manufacturing excellence in Hungary.”
