RadiciGroup unveils restructuring plans for its Novara site in northern Italy, planning to shut down its adipic acid, nitric acid and MAB production facilities.

The Novara plant runs integrated PA66 raw material production. Adipic acid is one of two core monomers for polyamide 66. The exit of this European local production capacity will reshape the regional supply landscape for PA66 feedstock.

The group explained the assets have recorded sustained heavy losses over consecutive years. Multiple headwinds including high energy costs, sluggish demand from automotive, textile and construction sectors, plus stringent local industrial safety regulations, made turnaround unviable. Roughly 140 roles will be impacted, and the company is negotiating employee transition plans with trade unions.

Notably, Radici’s base chemical & engineering plastics business was recently acquired by Lone Star Funds. The group will redirect resources to explore new development directions for the Novara site.
