April 27, 2026 – Adient, the global leader in automotive seating, today announced the completion of its acquisition of an automotive seat foam manufacturing facility in Romulus, Michigan, USA, further expanding its regional production footprint and strengthening its local supply chain capabilities in the Americas.
The Romulus facility manufactures high-quality automotive seat foam products for a diversified portfolio of automaker customers across North America. Following this strategic acquisition, Adient’s total number of foam production plants in the Americas region rises to 10, with the company boasting a global network of 30 dedicated foam manufacturing facilities worldwide.
Adient acquired the facility from Woodbridge, with the transaction covering the full scope of operational assets: the existing manufacturing plant and real estate land, production machinery and equipment, on-hand inventory, and all related operational assets. All current employees at the Romulus plant will transfer to Adient and join the company’s global team, and the existing collective bargaining agreement with the United Auto Workers (UAW) will remain fully valid and enforceable without modification.
Jim Conklin, Executive Vice President of Adient Americas, stated: “We are thrilled to welcome the talented employees of the Romulus foam plant to the Adient family and integrate this strategically important facility into our Americas operational network. Leveraging Adient’s unmatched global scale, industry-leading expertise and end-to-end automotive seating capabilities, this acquisition delivers enhanced supply chain stability and operational efficiency for our valued customers across the region.”
The addition of the Romulus facility advances Adient’s long-term strategic growth roadmap, reinforces its local manufacturing presence in the key North American automotive hub of Michigan, and further solidifies the company’s position as a preferred partner and employer of choice in the global automotive seating industry.
