Sudden Closure: Meteor Creative to Permanently Shut Down Ohio Manufacturing Plant in April
2026-03-06

Meteor Creative Inc., a manufacturer of tooling and molds for automotive and original equipment manufacturers, has announced the permanent closure of its manufacturing facility in Tipp City, Ohio, USA.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the facility is scheduled to close on April 24, 2026, affecting approximately 66 employees.

Sudden Closure: Meteor Creative to Cease Ohio Operations Permanently in April

In a letter to state authorities, the company stated: “The decision to close the facility was driven by the inability to secure sufficient customer contracts to sustain ongoing operations.”

“Despite diligent and good-faith negotiations with customers for new business arrangements, these efforts were unsuccessful, and customers declined to enter into the contracts necessary to sustain facility operations.”

Founded in 1979, Meteor Creative specializes in manufacturing molds and tooling for the automotive and aftermarket industries. The company was acquired by Meteor Group GmbH, a German sealing solutions manufacturer, in 2021.

WARN Notice Filed as a Precautionary Measure

In its WARN notice, Meteor Creative emphasized that the filing was submitted out of extreme caution.

The company explained: “Because the company employs fewer than 100 individuals at the facility and does not meet the statutory threshold for a ‘covered employer’ under state law, this notice is not intended, nor shall it be construed, as an admission that the WARN Act applies to this closure or that the company or any employees were required to issue this notice.”

The company further clarified that it reserves “all rights and defenses under the WARN Act, similar state laws, and other applicable laws.”

The closure will affect both union-represented and non-represented employees. Union workers are represented by the United Steelworkers, Local Union 1123L AFL-CIO-CLC.

While recall rights exist under the applicable collective bargaining agreement, the company noted that these rights will not apply due to the full facility closure.

Decades of Operations Come to an End

Meteor Creative’s Tipp City plant has been a key part of its operations for decades. However, the company’s inability to secure sufficient customer contracts has led to the difficult decision to close.

The announcement marks the end of an era for the Ohio-based facility, which has been part of the local manufacturing landscape for nearly half a century.

Affected employees, including those represented by the United Steelworkers, face significant changes as the company phases out operations.

Meteor Creative’s decision underscores the challenges manufacturers face in sustaining operations amid shifting market demand and contract negotiations.
